Obet is the Program Manager of Mahintana Foundation, Inc., a corporate foundation of Dole Philippines, Inc., Polomolok, South Cotabato, Philippines. He has been in the foundation for more than 10 years now managing its Environment/DRR-CCA and Governance Programs. Since 2006, he has handled major US-based Lutheran World Relief and European Union (EU) funded projects which include governance, organizational development, livelihood/enterprise, environmental conservation, and community health. As alternate representative of the foundation, he has been participating in decision-making processes of the municipal/city, provincial and regional development councils. He has been instrumental in popularizing the use of innovative technology-based transparency tools (e.g. ODK, LITS/e-Legislation) that have made the processes and data of local governments on planning, legislation, budgeting and monitoring of government projects/performance more open, accessible, and participatory.
He received the AB Philosophy degree from Notre Dame University, Cotabato City in 1995 and Master’s degree in Tropical Risk Management from Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City in 2013. He is a candidate of Master of Public Administration from the University of Southeastern Philippines. He earned an international course on Community-Managed Disaster Risk Reduction from the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction, Cavite City in 2010.
