At the subnational level, government is closest to its citizens and has the opportunity to foster transformative change to be more transparent, responsive, accountable, and effective government benefiting all citizens. OGP reforms at the subnational level commenced as pilot project in 2016 while also advancing through national action plan processes.

This session aims to showcase good practices, innovations, and challenges of open government reforms at the subnational level in the Asia-Pacific region. In the panel discussion local government officials, civil society representatives, and local government network leaders will discuss their experiences, views and challenges to open government reforms at the subnational level within the Asia-Pacific region.
